15+ years in data, health informatics, and systems across public health programs in Africa.
Worked with 30+ African countries on surveillance platforms, PHEOCs, and digital health systems.
Trained over 2,400 health workers and HR officers on digital systems and data use for better decision-making.
I was born and raised in Uganda, and my journey has taken me from an early love for computers and problem-solving to leading data and digital health initiatives at the continental level.
With a BSc in Computer Science as my foundation, I moved into information systems and public health informatics, gradually shifting from building single systems for individual organizations to architecting platforms and data repositories that serve the Africa CDC and its 55 Member States.
Over time, my focus has shifted to using data, robust systems architecture, and collaborative leadership to turn complex public health challenges into practical digital solutions that improve decision-making and service delivery.
Today, I am based between Addis Ababa and other African cities through my work with Africa CDC, where I support surveillance platforms, the Continental Data Repository, and broader digital transformation efforts. I am motivated by challenging ideas and by the opportunity to design and deploy solutions that address real problems, improve livelihoods, and strengthen health systems at scale.
I love working with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring younger professionals, and helping non-technical colleagues see how the right data and tools can make their work easier and more impactful.
Outside of work, I am a jolly, social person who enjoys seeing people happy and thriving. I spend time on the football pitch, participating in wellness and sports activities, and I enjoy travelling across Africa, learning from different cultures and health systems. I also find a lot of fulfillment in teaching and mentoring, whether it is coaching staff on new systems, supporting analytics teams, or sharing lessons from our digital health journey with Member States.
